FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN DES MOINES

Mrs. Leota Woods Ballard, former St. Charles resident, died at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines early Tuesday morning, July 18th. Mrs. Ballard had been in poor health for several years, and had spent several months here with her sister, Mrs. L. E. Mason, and in the Madison county Memorial hospital, last year. She had been in the Mercy hospital, ten days prior to her death.

Mrs. Ballard, aged 68, was the former Leota McCollum. She was raised on the family farm east of St. Charles, but has resided in Des Moines for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Ballard, two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Sommers of Des Moines and Mrs. Mason; she also leaves two nieces, Mrs. Maxine Thompson of Des Moines and Mrs. Vivian Potter of Waukee, and two nephews Earl McCollum of Chicago, and Maurice McCollum of Washington.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ballard are to be at Dunn's funeral home, Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and burial will be in the Glendale cemetery.
