Death of Wheatly Harper

Wheatly Michael Harper, a life long resident of Madison county died on Tuesday of last week after several years of failing health. He was 64 years of age.

Mr. Harper was the son of Wheatley and Mary Harper and was born in Walnut township on April 19, 1872. On October 5, 1898, he was married to Pearl Powell, and they settled on a farm nearby in Monroe township. They were the parents of one son, Maynard Harper. Since the death of his wife in 1927, he had made his home with his son.

He had been in failing health for several years and death came after months of intense suffering. In addition to the son he is survived by three grandsons, a brother, Tony Harper of Peru and a sister, Mrs. Mary Moore of Walnut township.

Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset last Thursday. The Rev. William Hahessy, pastor, was in charge. Burial was made in the cemetery at Peru.
