Thursday, August 6, 1936Mrs. Laura Hope Dies
Mrs. Laura Hope died at the Winterset hospital Friday after giving birth to twin children two day before.
Mrs. Hope was the former Laura Emma Simmons, and was born near Peru on July 8, 1903. She joined the Methodist church at Elm Grove when about 15 years of age and through her life had remained a faithful member.
She was married in October 1923 to Ray Hope. They were the parents of seven children, Deloris, Richard, Jean, Dorathea, Rex and the twins. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. J. A. Simmons of Winterset; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Porter, Mrs. Arthur Rollstin and Miss Bessie Simmons of Des Moines; and two brothers, George Simmons of Peru and Horation of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weed of the Methodist church at Carl, Iowa. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
