Wednesday, December 24, 1952MATTHEW SPEER DIES HERE EARLY TUESDAY
Matthew Speer of Winterset died Tuesday morning, Dec. 23, at the Memorial hospital where he had been a patient since Dec. 9. He was 88 years of age.
Mr. Speer was born in Madison county Feb. 20, 1864, and spent most of his life in the Earlham community. He moved to Winterset this year because of failing health.
He never married, and his nearest surviving relatives are three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Mark and Mrs. Elizabeth Piatt of Winterset and Mrs. Bricker of Earlham.
Funeral services will be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Welch’s Funeral home in Earlham. Burial will be made in the Earlham cemetery.
