The death of John Wesley Harwood occurred on Wednesday of last week. Mr. Harwood was the son of William and Elizabeth Harwood and was born in Adams county, Illinois on September 4, 1854.
He was married to Julia E. Mason on November 8, 1877. They were the parents of three children, a son, Otis Harwood, preceding him in death. Surviving are his two daughters, Mrs. Alice Chatham of Laurel, Nebraska and Mrs. Etta Olson of Lincoln, Nebraska; a grandson and granddaughter; a sister, Hattie Ackelson of Clayton, Illinois; and a brother, Thomas Harwood of Peoria, Illinois.
Three sisters, four half-brothers and eight half-sisters have preceded him in death.

John Harwood died at his home Wednesday evening, May 27 at the age of 81 years. He had been in failing health for the past few months
The widow, two daughters, Mrs. William Chatham of Laurel, and Mrs. Walter Olsen of Lincoln, Nebraska; one granddaughter, Evelyn Olsen of Lincoln; and one grandson, Braxton Pollard, who is stationed on the U.S.S. Idaho near San Diego, California, survive.
Funeral services were conducted from the home Saturday afternoon, and burial was in Peru cemetery.
