Death of Uriah Snider

Uriah Snider, widely known Madison county resident, died at his home in Winterset, last Saturday at the age of 85 years.

Mr. Snider was the son of Jess and Cathrine Snider and was born near Muncie, Indiana, on March 1, 1851. At the age of 7 years, he was left an orphan, and when 15 years old he came to St. Charles to make his home.

On September 23, 1872, he was married to Mary Jane Small. They made their home near St. Charles where he was a member of the Methodist church for many years. Since the death of his wife, in 1918 he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Valda Bishop of Winterset.

Mr. Snider is survived by six children; Fred Snider of Leon, Bid Snider of Des Moines, Ton Snider of St. Charles; Mrs. Marhola Stiles of Winterset; Mrs. Jessie Bean of Patterson; and Mrs. Bishop. He also leaves nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Methodist church in St. Charles in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Mr. Barker, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Carnahan, pastor of the Presbyterian church there. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
