Wednesday, July 9, 1952MRS. C. H. SEVERE DIES IN MINNESOTA
Mrs. C. H. Severe, formerly of Winterset and Madison county died Friday, July 4 at St. Paul, Minn., after an illness of two months. She was 64 years of age.
Mrs. Severe was the former Blanche Kensler. Born in Rapid City, S. Dak., on June 28, 1888, she came to Madison county with her family in 1892, and spent her life here. She came to Winterset in 1898. She attended Grinnell College for two years, and the State University of Iowa at Iowa City for two years, receiving her B. A. degree at Iowa in 1912. In 1916 and 1917 she was a member of the Winterset high school faculty. She had married C. H. Severe 32 years ago, and recently had been employed in the State Historical library at St. Paul.
She is survived by her husband; a sister, Mrs. Georgia Spurgin of Meridian, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Mildred Deets of near Earlham and Mrs. Irene Wicks of Iowa City.
