Had Been Madison County Resident for 60 Years
Elmer Helm, a resident of Madison county for 60 years died Saturday, Sept. 13, at his home here. He was 85 years of age.
Mr. Helm was born at West Point, Iowa, on April 23, 1873, a son of William and Mary May Helm. He was married on Feb. 18, 1903, to Addie Gates. They were parents of a daughter, Reva. The wife died in 1926, and in 1933 he was married to Effie McDonald, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves the daughter, Mrs. Paul Wilson, two grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Wallace of Baldwin Park, Calif.; and a brother, M. T. Helm of Kansas City, Mo.
In early life he joined the Methodist church in Lee county. In this community, he was a member of the Wells Congregational church, and later the Oak Grove E.U.B. church.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Wesley Lowry. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
