Winterset, IowaFORMER RESIDENT DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Fred Grout, a native of Madison county, died Sunday, Feb. 23, at a hospital in Long Beach, Calif., according to word received here this week. He was 75 years of age.
Walter Frederick Grout was a son of George and Luella Compton Grout, who were life-time residents of Winterset and Madison county. About 40 years ago he left here to move onto a farm near Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and remained there until moving to California 13 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie; two daughters; two step-daughters; a step-son; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Blake Peters of Long Beach and Mrs. Elsie Alexander of Winterset; and two brothers, Ray N. Grout of Winterset and Deloss Grout of St. Charles.
Funeral services were held in Long Beach, Feb. 27.
