Veteran Resident Succumbs at Home in South Township
St. Charles-(Special)-Elias G. Miller, 81-year-old farmer, died at his home northwest of St. Charles on February 10, after a 10-day illness with pneumonia, following a severe case of influenza.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller had celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary on January 24 of this year. They had lived 57 years on their homestead where his death occurred.
He leaves his wife, and seven children; Mrs. Elizabeth McDaniel of Lisbon, North Dakota, Albert Miller of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Mrs. Daisy Daniels and Alva Miller, both of St. Charles, Mrs. Retta Boughton of Lorimor, Mrs. Etta Lathrum of Ankeny and Mrs. Susie Hogue of Peru. Another Mrs. Elda McDaniel of Lisbon, North Dakota died in 1935. He also leaves a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Christian church iin St. Charles on February 14, in charge of the pastor, the Reverend Rector, assisted by the Rev. E. L. Patterson of the M. E. church. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.

E. G. Miller, 81, pioneer resident of South township, died Wednesday evening, February 10, after a short illness of influenza and pneumonia. He had lived on the same farm 57 years. Funeral services were held Sunday.
Elias Gibbs Miller was born in Story county August 23 1855, the son of Eli and Elizabeth Miller who came to South township to settle near Blair Chapel before the Civil war. He was married to Miss Wagner in 1875.
He leaves his wife and seven children, Albert Miller, Grand Forks, North Dakota; Mrs. Early McDaniel, Lisbon, North Dakota; Mrs. Ed Lathrum, Des Moines; Mrs. Will Daniel and Alva Miller, St. Charles; Mrs. Susie Hogue, Peru; Mrs. Chester Boughton, Lorimor. The eldest daughter, Mrs. Grant McDaniel of Lisbon, North Dakota, died in 1935.
