IDA SEERLEY DIED FRIDAY MORNING

Death Ends Lingering Illness of Lifelong Resident Of Worthington Community

Miss Ida Seerley, 68, passed away at her home in the Worthington community early Friday morning after suffering a lingering illness. Hers is the second death in the family within the past few weeks. A brother, Charles, died December 31 following an accident in which he was struck by a falling tree.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. W. P. Fink of Winterset, assisted by Rev. Garrett of the Worthington church were held at the church Sunday afternoon. Interment was in the Worthington cemetery.

OBITUARY

In the quietness of the evening on May 4th, 1868, there came into the home of William and Mary Seerley a pair of twin baby girls-Ida May and Virginia May. Ida was left to journey alone. She spent her entire life in the home where she was born 68 years ago. She had been in failing health the past fifteen years, but bore her afflictions bravely, often expressing to her brothers and sisters a desire to be released from her suffering. Although racked with pain, she was patient and cheerful and always considerate of others.

Ida took an active interest in the home and community as long as health permitted, doing what she could to lighten the burden of others.

On December 27, 1936-she was stricken with a fatal illness-growing frailer and weaker each day-until March 12th, in the early hours of the morning-Ida quietly slipped away. For the second time in the last ten weeks death has entered the home.

Of a family of thirteen children-five are left to mourn her passing. Bayard of Greenfield, Iowa; Frank, Vick, Flora and Grace at home.
