MRS. E. C. WILSON DIED ON SUNDAY

Winterset Resident Many Years Was 81 Years Of Age

Mrs. Eugene C. Wilson, a lifelong resident of Madison county, died here Sunday, Jan. 8, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Winter Mackay, in Winterset. She was 81 years of age and had been in poor health for several years.

Mrs. Wilson was born in this county, Jan. 20, 1879. She was the former Pearl Pennell Rowe, daughter of Henry and Almira Jane Johns Rowe. Her early life was spent in the Macksburg community, and she was married there on Dec. 14, 1897, to Eugene C. Wilson.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson lived on a farm near Macksburg, after their marriage, and then later moved to Macksburg, where they resided until 1908, when they came to Winterset. Her husband was a well-known Winterset business man and civic leader for many years. His death occurred in 1943.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Methodist church, and was affiliated with Rebekah and Eastern star.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Winter Mackay of Winterset; a son, Wyman R. Wilson of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. A daughter Mardi died at the age of 2 sixty years ago.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Anderson Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porter, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
