Death of Mrs. Myrtle Hull

Mrs. Myrtle Hull, who had been seriously ill during the past ten days with erysipelas, died at her home in the southeast part of Winterset, Wednesday morning, April 2. Mrs. Hull was critically ill last week, at the time of the death of her husband, W. B. Hull, but it was thought that her condition was greatly improved. Wednesday morning, she stated that she had rested better during Tuesday night than on any previous night since she had become ill. She had a relapse, however, and died shortly afterwards.

Mrs. Hull was formerly Miss Myrtle Gilliam, and she was raised in this county. Her marriage to Mr. Hull took place about twenty-five years ago. Mrs. Hull had owned and operated for many years, Hull’s Pantatorium, and she had many friends and acquaintances in Winterset and Madison county. Both she and Mr. Hull were seldom ill, but they contracted erysipelas and were sick for only a short time.

Funeral services will be held at Tidrick’s funeral home, Friday, April 4th, at 2 o’clock.

Myrtle Hull

Myrtle Gilliam, daughter of Angeline Gilliam, was born in Winterset, July 22, 1875.

She attended the Winterset schools, and her girlhood was spent here. When a young woman she was married to W. B. Hull, who passed away nine days before her.

A number of years ago she started the pantatorium and was successful in her work. She worked hard and did her work well, and made many friends.

She had not been well for several months and was planning to sell the business and take a well earned rest, when Mr. Hull was taken sick. In her care for him she contracted the same disease and passed away on April 2, 1930, aged 54 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Myrtle had never united with the church, but she had in her life much of the love and kindness that Christ came to teach. In spite of the handicaps and hardships of early years she became a strong fine character, loving and forgiving – and smiling back at a world that hadn’t always been kind.

Rev. W. C. Porter conducted the funeral services at Tidrick’s funeral home, Friday afternoon, April 4th, and the burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
