SAMUEL C. HOWE

Samuel C. Howe, son of John and Nancy Howe, was born in Fayette County, Ohio, April 30, 1852 and passed away December 31, 1937 at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 1 day.

He grew to young manhood and in the fall of 1869 moved with his parents to Madison county, Iowa, coming overland with team while the rest of the family came by railroad.

He was married to Hattie M. Yahne, October 24, 1872. To this union two children were born. Frank the oldest settled in Wyoming in the fall of 1900; and Olive May of Truro, Iowa. Samuel C. Howe was converted early in life and joined the Friends church in 1898. He was soon after recorded a minister of that church.

In 1906 he united with the Methodist church at Truro and received a license to preach in that church.

He followed the ministry a number of years until impaired health, he sold his farm and moved to Truro, Iowa where he purchased the hardware and furniture store.

He successfully carried it on until January 1919 when he sold out to his son-in-law, W. D. Kale.

He was often called upon to administer joy and comfort to the sick and dying. He lived a conscientous and religious life.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, his son of midwest Wyoming and a daughter of Truro; a sister, Mrs. Laura Mease of Peru; a brother, E. E. Howe of Osceola; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
