MRS. BESSIE WITT DIED AT AGE OF 89

Winterset Woman Succumbs After Several Years of Failing Health

Mrs. Bessie Wilson Witt, one of Madison county's eldest citizens died at her home in Winterset last Thursday after several years of failing health. She was 89 years of age. The immediate cause of her death was a stroke. (d. June 3, 1937)

Mrs. Witt was a native of sourthern Missouri, where she was reared and was married to E. L. Boling. As a young woman she came to Madison county with her husband. They settled on a farm here where she spent the greater share of her life.

Three children were born to the union, Charles and William Boling, who preceded their mother in death and Mrs. J. M. E. Creger of Winterset. Mr. Boling died about 40 years ago.

About five years later she was married to J. M. Witt. For the past 30 years they had made their home in Winterset. Mr. Witt died on April 23 of this year.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Creger, she leaves four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday from the Tidrick funeral home in Winterset in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
