ORVA LANE VICTIM OF HEART ATTACK

Former Patterson Resident Succumbs at Home in Thayer

Orva Lane, former resident of the Patterson community, died last Thursday at his home in Thayer where in recent years he has operated an oil station. He was 52 years of age.

Death was due to a heart attack with which he was stricken in March and from which he never fully recovered.

Thomas Orva Lane was the youngest son of Thomas and Mary Lane and was born in Polk county on May 18, 1885. His early life was spent on a farm near Patterson. On June 26, 1907 he was married to Stella Cooper.

He leaves his wife; six sons, Merl Lane of Indianola, Phillip Lane of Osceola and Bud, Rex, Dyle and Leland Lane at home; two daughters, Mrs. Ines Johnson of Patterson and Mrs. Doris Taylor of Des Moines; three brothers, Elmer Lane of Des Moines, Perry Knowles of Des Moines and Roy Knowles of Stockton, California; a sister, Mrs. Ida McCartney of Macon, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ in Winterset, Sunday in charge of the pastor the Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery near Patterson.
