SERVICES HELD HERE FOR MRS. T. R. JANES

Former Resident Died at Home of Daughter in Des Moines

Mrs. T. R. Janes, for many years a resident of the Patterson community, died last Friday at the home of her son, Hase Janes of Des Moines. She was 74 years old.

Mrs. Janes was born Elethia H. Brown, daughter of Daniel and Mary Brown, on August 17, 1862, in Illinois. She was married on May 10, 1877 to Columbus DeBord. They were the parents of five children; Mrs. Hallie Myers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tillman DeBord of Winterset and three now dead.

Her second marriage to Thomas Ross Janes, occurred July 4, 1889. To this union were born seven children; Mrs. Georgia Fromm and Hase Janes of Des Moines, Lester Janes of Patterson, Mrs. Sadie Douglas of Truro, Mrs. Marie Beard and Joe Janes of Winterset and one child now dead.

Her second husband died in 1934.

Mrs. Janes was long a church member, having joined the Baptist faith in Oklahoma City.

The body was brought to the home of the daughter, Mrs. Beard, in Winterset where prayer was held. Funeral services were held Sunday from the Union Chapel church in charge of the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, Jr., pastor of the Winterset Baptist church. Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.

Mrs. T. R. Janes

Elethia H. Brown, daughter of Daniel and Mary Brown, was born August 17, 1862 in Illinois and died June 18, aged 74 years, 10 months and one day at the home of her son, Hase Janes and wife of Des Moines.

She was married May 10, 1877, to Columbus Debord who died in 1888. To this union were born five children: Hallie Myers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Tillman Debord of Winterset, and three deceased. She was again married to Thomas Ross Janes July 4, 1890 who died January 22, 1934.

Seven children were born to them: Georgia Fromm and Hase Janes of Des Moines; Lester Janes of Patterson; Sadie Douglas of Truro; and Marie Beard and Joe Janes of Winterset; Ernest deceased. Mrs. Janes, the last of a family of seven, is survived by 36 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She joined the Baptist church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clyde Beard of Winterset Sunday, June 20, where prayer was held and then taken to Union Chapel where services were held. The services were conducted by the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, Jr., pastor of the Winterset Baptist church. Burial was in the Union Chapel cemetery.
