FALL PROVES FATAL TO HARLAN POWELL

Injury Suffered in Mishap Is Followed by Pneumonia

Harlan J. Powell, young Scott township farmer, died at the Winterset hospital Sunday of pneumonia, with which he was stricken after being injured in a fall from a tractor last week. He was 32 years of age.

Mr. Powell was born in Madison county on May 9, 1905, the son of Alonzo and Maggie Kranz Powell. His entire life was spent in this county. He was married to Miss Lorraine Beam.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Union Chapel church, in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was to be made in the Union Chapel cemetery.

SERVICES ARE TUESDAY FOR HARLAN POWELL

Harlan J. Powell, 23, died at the Winterset hospital Sunday after a short illness. Services were held at Union Chapel Tuesday at two o’clock conducted byt the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was in the Union Chapel cemetery.

Mr. Powell was the son of Alonzo and Maggie Powell and was born in Madison county May 9, 1905. He was married April 11, 1928 to Lorraine Beem.

He leaves his wife, a daughter Viola Margaret, his mother, and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Huismann of Des Moines, Mrs. Hazel Neal of Paton, and Miss Flora Powell of Winterset. His father and a brother are deceased.
