DONALD DORRELL

Donald Dorrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Dorrell, was born December 20, 1921 at Indianola, Iowa and died at his home in Winterset, February 19, 1937. He was fifteen years, one month and thirty days old.

With the exception of one and a half years when his parents lived in Ringgold county, his life was spent in and near Winterset.

It was a life of much suffering endured since the age of three years, at which time ill health first came to him. As he grew older and his illness became more pronounced, he so often expressed his great disappointment because he was not physically able to go to school. He so wanted to be well.

It was some two weeks ago that Donald was stricken with his last illness. He knew it was his last and during those final hours talked much of God and of Heaven and of the angels he could see so plainly waiting to take him. He bade each of his loved ones goodbye and at the very last said,"Daddy, put your head down on the pillow. If you will kiss me, I'll go to sleep." So the tired body was stilled. So he passed on into rest.

Donald leaves to mourn his loss his father and mother, his twin brother, Ronald, his sister, Betty and his brothers, Billy, Woodrow and Warren, all of Winterset; his brother, Nicholas of St. Charles and his sisters, Mrs. George Bradshaw of Newton and Mrs. Wayne Allen of Lorimor, his grandparents, his nieces and three nephews, together with many other relatives and friends.

Yes Donald has left us and we who remain are going to miss him. We would not call him back, however, to the pain and suffering of this world for we know that he is safe in the hand of God, who knows all.

Funeral services were conducted at the Tidrick funeral home, Sunday, February 21st at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Patterson of St. Charles. The body was laid to rest in the Baptist cemetery. Pall bearers were, Andy Stout, Bob McMurray, Donovan Wilson, Lyle Shaklee, Bobbie Lull, Billy Carmichael, all of Patterson
