AGNES TERRY

Agnes Crawford, daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Crawford, was born in Clarence county, Indiana, January 10, 1851, and departed this life May 27, 1937, aged 64 years, 4 months and 17 days. She was the oldest of five children and came with her parents to Madison county when she was six years old and the remaining 80 years of her life was spent in this county.

A brother, Jake Crawford and a sister, Mrs. Mary Preble preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to Wilson Terry, November 21, 1871 and to this union ten children were born, six of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Terry died in April 1904. She is survived by her brother, D. V. Crawford of Earlham, her sister, Mrs. J. L. Rippey of Aubudon, her four children, Albert of Dakota City, Nebraska, Mrs. John Huston of Kenebec, South Dakota, Mrs. Frances Lotz and G. C. Terry of Winterset, 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Terry never united with any church but was a firm believer in the Primitive Baptist doctrine of "Salvation by Grace" and attended that church as long as her health permitted.

Funeral services were held at the Tidrick funeral home, May 29th conducted by Elder Holmes of Newton and Elder Jones of Knoxville and burial in the Baptist cemetery north of Winterset.

Pall bearere were Elmer Orris, Ed Chase, Steve Hays, Harry Olson, James Williams and H. Hamilton.

Mrs. Agnes Terry of Winterset Dies

Funeral Services were Held Saturday at Tidrick’s Funeral Home

Mrs. Agnes Terry, well-known resident of Winterset for many years, died at her home here Thursday. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Terry was the former Agnes Crawford, daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Weaver Crawford, and was born January 10, 1851, in Indiana.

She was the widow of the late Wilson Terry of this community, who died many years ago. She is survived by several children.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Tidrick funeral home in Winterset in charge of the Rev. Jones of Knoxville and the Rev. Holmes of Newton. Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.

Pallbearers were Elmer Orris, S. A. Hays, Ed Chase, H. H. Hamilton, James Williams and Harry Olson.
