The Winterset Madisonian
Winterset, Iowa
Friday, July 2, 1937MRS. SARAH HOOVER
Sarah Ray was born November 11, 1859 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Madge on June 28, 1937.
She became the bride of Henry Hoover on March 23, 1879. To this union nine daughters were born; Clyde Stevens, Madge Stevens and Pearle Shetterly of Winterset; Nelle Travis and Roe Fenimore of Peru; Susan Porter, Nan Childers and Doris Stirts of Des Moines; and Ruby Imes of Denver, Colorado.
Sarah Hoover was born and lived all her life in Scott township. She is survived by her husband, her nine daughters, thirty-two grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and her two brothers, Joe and Levi Ray, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was always gentle, patient and kind. To those that knew her, words cannot add or detract anything from her lovely character. The funeral was held at the home two miles north of Peru on June 30, conducted by Rev. Wilkins of Peru. Interment was made in the Peru cemetery.
