DALE GOCHANOUR, WELDON

Dale Millroy Gochanour, 78, of Weldon and formerly of Earlham, died April 21, 2007, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Phil Coe officiating. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola with military graveside rites performed by Osceola Davis-Pence Post 69 of the American Legion.

Dale Gochanour was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Omaha, Neb., to Roland and Lucille (Jorgensen) Gochanour. He grew up in Nebraska and California, finishing school in San Diego. His marriage to Twyla M. Burdess took place Sept. 21, 1947, in Council Bluffs. They resided in Omaha, Neb., and Earlham before moving to Weldon in 1990. Dale was a self-employed contractor. He also was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Twyla, of Weldon; two daughters, Karon Haun of Forest City and Tami Eddis of Osceola; a sister, Diane Sheffield of Lincoln, Neb.; and five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Clarke County Ambulance or Clarke County Hospital.
