FORMER ST. CHARLES RESIDENT DIES IN CRESTON

(St. Charles Special)

Mrs. Maude Grace Wheeler, daughter of Newton and Susan Smith was born March 27, 1876 and passed away February 8, 1958 at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 12 days. She was preceeded in death by her husband, William H. Wheeler and one son, James.

On January 1, 1893 she was united in marriage to William Henry Wheeler. She is survived by twelve children: Mrs. Bessie Raymond, Pittsburg, California; Mrs. Mary Shepperson, San Bernadino, California; Mrs. Opal Clark, Delhi, Iowa; Harold Wheeler, Galva, Illinois; Mrs. Lura Clippinger, Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Cleo Kilgore, Creston, Iowa; Mrs. Lela Diekman, London, Minnesota; Mrs. Ruth Marshall, Des Moines, Iowa; Theodore Wheeler, Caldwell, Idaho; Homer Wheeler, Lake Park, Iowa; Glenn Wheeler, Baxter, Iowa; Harley Wheeler, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mrs. Wheeler also is survived by thirty grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, also one brother, Will Smith of Cromwell, Iowa and a host of other relatives.

The past twenty years of her life were spent in or near St. Charles. Since October she had made her home with her daughter Mrs. Cleo Kilgore in Creston. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 674 and the Women's Service Club of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon February 11 at 2:00 o'clock at the St. Charles Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joe King of Prescott, in charge, assisted by the Rev. Clifford Pine, with burial in the St. Charles cemetery.
