FORMER ST. CHARLES RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. George Wallace, a long-time resident of the St. Charles community, died Monday, Jan. 13 at the Clarke County hospital in Osceola at the age of 80 years.

Mrs. Wallace was the former Julia Erwin, daughter of C. H. and Nancy Ann Erwin, and was born near St. Charles on Aug. 5, 1877. She graduated from the St. Charles high school, and as a young woman taught rural school for several years.

She was married May 23, 1910, to George Wallace. They lived near St. Charles until his death. For the last 14 years she had made her home in Clarke county.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church at St. Charles.

Nearest surviving relatives are two brothers-in-law, William Wallace of Grimes and Arthur Wallace of St. Charles; two nieces, Mrs. Frank Pully of Des Moines and Freda Wallace of St. Charles; and two nephews, George and Harold Wallace of Grimes.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday in Osceola, with burial in the St. Charles cemetery, with the Rev. S. C. Picken, pastor of the Winterset United Presbyterian church officiating.
