Native of Illinois, Spent Most of Life In This Community
Oliver E. Tracy, a long-time resident of Madison and Warren counties, died this Monday, April 28, near St. Marys. He was 91 years of age.
Mr. Tracy was born in Henry county, Illinois, on April 26, 1867, a son of George and Sarah Tracy. His active life was spent in farming. He was a member of the Christian church at Winterset.
He is survived by his wife, the former Della May Wright, to whom he was married in 1909. He also leaves three sons, George W. Tracy, of Greenfield, Raymond D. Tracy of St. Charles and Wallace E. Tracy of New Virginia; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Acton of Kirksville, Mo., Mrs. Elvis Kirkpatrick of New Virginia and Mrs. Wayne Smothers of Albia; three stepchildren, Cleo and Jessie Ray of St. Charles and Mrs. Henry Crom of Moulton; a brother, Edward L. Tracy of Portland, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset. Burial will be made in the Hooten cemetery. The Rev. Lewis Conrad of Greenfield will preside.
