Death Occurred Last Friday At Home of His Son in Winterset
Delwin Travis, long-time resident of the Peru and Truro communities, died last Friday, June 27, at the home of his son, Harold Travis, of Winterset. He was 72 years of age.
Mr. Travis spent his entire life in Madison county, with the exception of 10 years in Kansas. He was born near Peru on April 27, 1886, a son of Thomas H. and Eliza Bird Travis. His life was spent in farming, and he was a member of the Peru Methodist chruch.
He was married in 1906 to Mayme Hann. They were parents of three children, two of whom died in infancy. The wife and mother died in 1909.
He was married a second time in 1915 to Nellie Rollstin, who survives him. He also leaves the son, Harold Travis of Winterset; three brothers, Warren, Elwood and Don Travis, all of Winterset; and his mother, Mrs. Eliza Travis of Truro.
Funeral services were held Sunday from Kale's Funeral home in Truro, in charge of the Rev. Dale Lockhart. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
