Physician Died Tuesday in Illinois at Age of 50 Years
Dr. Donald Shoemaker, a native of Madison county and a graduate of Winterset high school, died at Stauton, Ill., this Tuesday, Sept. 23. He was 50 years of age, and had been ill for several years.
Doctor Shoemaker was born in Madison county June 4, 1908, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Shoemaker. He graduated from Winterset high school with the class of 1926. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma, and took his medical training at the University of Chicago. For many years he had been practicing medicine and surgery at Mt. Olive, Ill., where he made his home.
He was a member of the Christian church.
Surviving are three sisters, Minnie Foster of Mapleton, Minn., and Jane and Ruth Shoemaker of Winterset; and four brothers, Curtis Shoemaker of Lakeside, Montana, Glenn Shoemaker of Van Meter, and Carl and Ralph Shoemaker of Winterset.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Robert Owens of the Winterset Christian church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
