MRS. B. C. RAGAN 62, DIED SATURDAY

Had Been Madison County Resident More Than Half Century

Mrs. B. C. Ragan, a resident of Madison county for 51 years, died here Saturday, April 26, at the age of 62 years.

Mrs. Ragan was the former Dola Vesta Patton, daughter of Marion and Sarah Patton. She was born May 25, 1895, at Mt. Pleasant, Tex. Her marrriage to B. C. Ragan occurred at Creston on July 14, 1926.

She was a member of the Christian church.

Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Tom Gunter of Winterset, Mrs. Ben Kirk of Lorimor and Doris Ragan at home; a son, George Ragan; three stepsons, Marion Ragan of Des Moines, Benjamin Ragan of Seattle, Wash., and Delbert Ragan of New York City; her mother, Mrs. Lou Nelson of Winterset; a brother, Ray Patton of Winterset; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Cameron of Leon, Mrs. Nellie Cameron of Afton and Bertha Bailey at Winterset; 13 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Herman Olmstead of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. RAGAN, 62

Funeral services for Mrs. B. C. Ragan, age 62, were held April 28 from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset.

A twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Marion Patton, who was born on May 25th, 1895 at Mt. Pleasant, Texas. At the age of one year, she came with her parents to a farm near Litchfield, Nebraska. On March 8th, 1908, the family moved to Winterset to make their home.

She was united in marriage to Floyd R. Hircock on March 12, 1913. They established their home three miles west of Winterset on the Will Hircock farm, where their entire married life was spent. To this union, two children were born: Sarah Elizabeth, now Mrs. Tom Gunter of Winterset; and Eugene William Hircock.

In January of 1925, Mr. Hircock died at the age of 35.

On July 14th, 1926, she was married to B. C. Ragan at Creston, Iowa. They were the parents of four children: Frances Lorraine, George, Mrs. Ben Kirk, and Doris at home.

Mrs. Ragan was a member of the Christian church since early childhood.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mrs. Ora Ragan, in 1922, her son Eugene, in 1942; and her infant daughter Frances Lorraine.

Surviving are her husband, the three daughters, the son, three nephews whom she raised following the death of their mother, Marion Ragan of Des Moines, Benjamin Ragan of Seattle, Wash., and Delbert Ragan of New York City; her mother, Mrs. Lou Nelson of Winterset; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Bailey of Winterset, Mrs. Nellie Cameron of Afton, and Mrs. Grace Cameron of Leon; one brother, Ray Patton of Winterset; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Herman Omstead of Des Moines. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
