LIZZIE McGINNIS DIED SATURDAY

Life-Long Resident Had Lived On Farm Near Patterson For 62 Years

Mrs. Lizzie McGinnis, member of a well known family in Patterson community, died at a Winterset nursing home Saturday, Dec. 6, after several years of failing health. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. McGinnis was born Jan. 4, 1872 in Madison county, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann Stiles. Her parents and her nine brothers all preceded her in death.

She was married March 8, 1893, to Jud McGinnis. They located on a farm two miles west of Patterson, which became her home for 62 years, until illness forced her to leave it three years ago. During those years she was extremely active in the affairs of her community, including the Patterson Methodist church, where she taught three generations in Sunday school.

Her husband died in 1933. Nearest surviving relatives are two nephews, Ralph Stiles of Hillsborough, Calif., and Dwight Stiles of Ft. Dodge; and a niece, Mrs. Florence Frye of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Patterson Methodist church, conducted by Charles A. McMurray of Winterset. Burial was made in the McGinnis cemetery.
