JAMES P. L'ESTRANGE BURIED WEDNESDAY

Crawford Township Resident, Native of Ireland, Died at Memorial Hospital

James Patrick L'Estrange, 77, of Crawford township died Sunday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at the Winterset hospital, where he had been taken by ambulance early that morning of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Born in King's county, Ireland, Mr. L'Estrange came to the Irish Settlement in Lee township in 1916 from Williamsburg. A retired farmer, he was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic chruch.

Mr. L'Estrange is survived by his wife, two sons James T. L'Estrange of Des Moines, John F. L'Estrange of Prole and one daughter Mrs. Caroline Schoenenberger of Hyattsville, Md.; three sisters, Sister Mary Charles, R.S.M., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, sister Mary Thomasina, R.S.M., Kent, England and Mrs. Sophia Decker of Florida; and one brother, Daniel of Belfast, Ireland; and 15 grandchildren.

Rosaries were recited at 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Caldwell Brian funeral home in Des Moines. The body was brought to St. Patrick's church early Tuesday afternoon, where rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Final funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's cemetery.

Those from a distance here for the funeral were a niece, sister L'Estrange, sister Mary Kiernan and a companion, from Chicago, Thomas Moran and John Grogan, both nephews and Mr. Grogan's son Kiernan, all of Chicago; Mrs. Caroline Schoenenberger of Hyattsville, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roach of Council Bluffs and Mr. and Mrs. John Roach of Indianola.
