RUTH JORDAN DIED MONDAY

Was Winterset Madisonian Staff Member for 24 Years

Mrs. Grover Jordan, who for 24 years was a member of the Winterset Madisonian office staff, died this Monday, April 21, in California, where she had made her home in recent years. She had been in failing health the last three years. Death was attributed to a stroke. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Jordan was the former Ruth Ellen Clark. She was born in Madison county Feb. 23, 1882, a daughter of Joshua and Cynthia Clark. She was employed at the Madisonian office as an assistant to the publisher, Ed M. Smith, from 1902 until the spring of 1926, when she moved to Mason City.

She was married at Winterset June 8, 1910, to Grover I. Jordan. They were parents of three children.

Surviving are her husband; the three children, Mrs. Phyllis Angells of Downey and Mrs. Harriet Robinson, of Los Angeles, and Capt. Clark Jordan of the U.S. Air force, who is stationed in Japan. She also leaves three brothers, Claude and Walter Clark of Winterset and Charles Clark of Omaha; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Two brothers, Everett and Audley Clark, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday from the Chandler-Trager mortuary in Downey, California, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery at Bell Gardens.
