Death of J. M. Hann

James Martin Hann, a resident of Madison county for 81 years, died at his home in Winterset last Thursday after two years of rapidly failing health. He was 84 years old.

Mr. Hann was the son of Hugh and Sarah Hann and was born in Ohio on February 19, 1851. At the age of three years, he came with his parents to Madison county, spending his entire remaining life here. For many years he lived in Lincoln township, uniting there with the Christian Union church at Ord. After moving to Winterset he placed his membership with the Church of Christ.

On February 19, 1878 he was married to Roxie Jane Dudney. They were the parents of five sons and two daughters, one of whom, Nellie Davis, died January 5, 1918. He is survived by his widow, the five sons; Charles and Styles Hann of Colorado, Melvin and Forest Hann of Des Moines and Walter Hann of Winterset; and a daughter Verna Hartsook of Winterset; two brothers, Frank and John Hann; and a sister, Mrs. S. J. Welch of Winterset; in addition to 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral parlors. The Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Church of Christ officiated. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
