OBITUARY

Kenneth George Garrett, son of Menary and Margarit Garrett was born in Madison county April 9, 1895 and passed away suddenly September 18, 1958 at the age of 63 years, five months and nine days.

He was at the time of his death a patient at the Winterset Memorial Hospital where he has been for seventeen weeks following a stroke. During this extended illness he remained cheerful and always enjoyed having company.

He has always lived around the Earlham community where he enjoyed farming as long as his health permitted. Kenneth started farming in 1923 on the farm which his grandfather had purchased on his coming to the State of Iowa from Indiana in 1867. Then in 1945 he purchased an adjoining farm and moved to it, still farming the grandfather's land. It was necessary that he give up farming several years ago although he still enjoyed the farm life, and received great pleasure from seeing the crops grow.

He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge No. 546 for forty-two years. He was a member of the Marguerite Rebekah Lodge No. 233. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 568.

He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Bruce and Paul, two sisters, Mrs. Harry McKibben and Mrs. Earl Ramsey all of Earlham. One nephew, Nile McKibben and wife, Waive, their two sons, Darrel and Dadwin of DeSoto. a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
