Death of Martin Hartley

The death of Martin Francis Hartley occurred at his home in Winterset, Tuesday following an extended period of failing health. He was 66 years old.

Mr. Hartley was the son of Edmond and Catherine Cummings Hartley and was born in Monroe township on June 20, 1870. He remained on the home farm there until the death of his father about 20 years ago, when he moved to Winterset to make his home with his sisters, the Misses Agnes and Catherine Hartley.

He is survived by two brothers; E. D. Hartley of Winterset and T. I. Hartley of Avalon, Missouri; and six sisters; the Misses Agnes and Catherine Hartley, Mrs. John Nolan and Mrs. Mary Carney of Winterset; Mrs. Celia Schuler of Tonkawa, Oklahoma and Mrs. Alice Doud of Lancaster, Ohio; in addition to a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were to be held at 9:30 a.m. today (Thursday) from St. Joseph's Catholic church here in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W. Hahessy. Burial was to be made in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
