Death of Mrs. Nicholas Dorrell

Mrs. Nicholas Dorrell, 72 year old former Winterset woman, who died Sunday in Doniphan, Nebraska, was brought to Winterset for burial this week.

Mrs. Dorrell was well known here as she had spent many years of her life in this community.

Funeral services were held yesterday from the Tidrick Funeral home and burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Jane Dorrell

Mary Jane Belcher, 72, daughter of Alta and Alexander Belcher, was born February 29, 1864 in Buchanan county, Missouri, and died October 25 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. A. Creason in Doniphan, Nebraska.

August 23, 1882 she was married to Nicholas Dorrell at Clinton, Missouri. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dorrell moved to Winterset. Seven children were born to them one daughter and six sons.

Mrs. Dorrell was converted when a young woman and united with the Christian Union church and remained a faithful member until the time of her death. Her husband and three sons who died in infancy preceded her.

She leaves besides her daughter, three sons, Gold S. of Winterset; John E. Of Des Moines, and Lyle, two sisters and a brother of California; grandchildren and six grandchildren. At the death of her brother-in-law, Rev. Charles Dorrell, a number of years ago she took into her home is to orphans sons, Rev. A. F. Dorrell of Gilman City, Missouri, and C. L. Dorrell of Des Moines, and cared for them.

The funeral was held in the Tidrick funeral home at Winterset October 28 conducted by Rev. N. D. Gordon of Indianola after which buried was in the primitive Baptist Church.
