Death Occurred Thursday at Home of Daughter, Mrs. Ralph Shambaugh

Mrs. Maude E. Chipperfield, who had been visiting here at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shambaugh, died at their home Thursday, May 8, as result of a heart attack. She was 83 years of age.

Mrs. Chipperfield was the former Maude Ethel Peebles. She was born in David City, Nebr., on January 24, 1875, a daughter of Dr. G. H. and Mary Jane Halford Peebles, who were pioneer settlers in that Nebraska community. When she was 12 years old the family moved to Lincoln. She received her education at Nebraska Wesleyan university, graduating in piano from the conservatory of music.

On Aug. 4, 1897, she was married to the Rev. Robert T. Chipperfield, pastor of Trinity Methodist church in Lincoln. In 1899 they were transferred to Algona, in Iowa, where they served five years before being appointed to Whitfield church in Sioux City, where they spent 11 years. After that they served in churches in Storm Lake, Webster City, Estherville, Sac City and Sutherland. After her husband's retirement, they moved to California, where his death occurred in 1956. Recently she had been living at Ft. Dodge.

During all those years Mrs. Chipperfield was active in the various organizations of the church, including many years as an officer in conference and home missionary work.

She is survived by three daughters Ms. Ruth Ryan, Mrs. Elizabeth Shambaugh and Miriam Chipperfield; a brother, Mrak M. Peebles of Los Angeles; and two grandsons, Mike and Jim Shambaugh.

Funeral services were held here Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Lloyd Scheerer of Des Moines and the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz of Winterset. The body was taken to Sioux City for burial, with graveside services there this Tuesday at Graceland Park cemetery
