Winterset, IowaMRS. J. O. DOOP DIED HERE WEDNESDAY
Mrs. J. O. Doop of Adel died this Wednesday morning at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset after an extended illness. She was 69 years of age.
Mrs. Doop was well known in Winterset, where she made her home for 21 years during the time her husband was engaged in the meat and grocery business here. They moved to Adel in 1934, where they operated the Rialto theater for many years.
She was the former Ethel Mae Partlow of Adair county, and she was married to Mr. Doop, May 3, 1905, in Greenfield. They moved to Winterset in 1916. During their years here, Mrs. Doop was a member of the First Presbyterian church, and a number of social organizations, and took an active interest in the affairs of her community. She became ill, the latter part of September, and received treatment at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, and a hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, before she was brought to the local hospital, December 17th.
Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Doop at the Adel Christian church, Friday, January 10th at 2 o'clock, and burial will be in the Winterset cemetery.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. C. O. Koehn of Winterset; two grandchildren, Mrs. Mary Jo Fenimore of Des Moines and Bill Koehn, a student at Iowa City and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Hersman of Woodward.
