74-Year-Old Local Resident Dies Unexpectedly July 16
Funeral services for Mrs. E. S. Deardorff, well-known Winterset resident, were held last Saturday afternoon, July 19, from Anderson's Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Deardorff died unexpectedly in her apartment home on the square in Winterset Wednesday afternoon, July 16. She was 74 years of age.
The daughter of William and Nettie Humphrey, she was born at Pierceton, Indiana on Nov. 2, 1883.
In 1908 she was married to E. S. Deardorff at Blackfoot, Idaho. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Lord of Los Angeles, Calif.
Surviving in addition to her husband and daughter, are three granddaughters of Los Angeles. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wm. and Jess Humphrey, and one sister, Bertha.
Mrs. Deardorff was associated with her husband in the operation of the Club Cafe in Winterset for a period of 17 years. They sold the business to Tim Osborn in 1947.
Mrs. Deardorff was a member of the Winterset Methodist church. Officiating at the services Saturday was the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, local Methodist minister. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
