JOHN CLELAND Dies Of Heart Ailment

John L. Cleland, long time resident of the Elm Grove neighborhood, died at his home there Thursday, May 15, 1947, following a heart attack. He was 51 years of age.

Mr. Cleland was born in Bevington, September 1st, 1895, the son of Charles and Frances Cleland. He was married to Genevieve Johnston, July 24, 1915. They were the parents of two sons, John and Clifford Cleland, both of St. Charles.

In addition to the wife and sons, he leaves six grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers and eight sisters. They are: Clarence Cleland of Richmond, Calif., Thomas Cleland of Chamberlain, South Dakota, Frank and Maud Cleland of Chicago, Mrs. Mable Clopton of Lindsay, Caifornia, Catherine Cleland of Studio City, California, Mrs. Mary Hewes of Minneapolis, Mrs. Pearl Duffy of Conception Junction, Missouri, Mrs. Leota Conrad and Mrs. Dorothy Baizer of Des Moines, and Mrs. Grace Archer and Mrs. Frances Wissler of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held May 18 from the St. Charles Methodist Church in charge of the Rev. Mr. Caruthers. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
