Pioneer Resident of Scott and South Townships Succumbs
St. Charles-(Special)-Mrs. Lucy Allen McDaniel, a pioneer resident of Scott and South townships died Saturday at her home, two miles north of St. Charles, a victim of pneumonia. She was 80 years of age.
Much of Mrs. McDaniel's early life was spent in the Elm Grove neighborhood.
She is survived by three sons and four daughters; Floyd McDaniel of Edmond, N. Dak., and Charles and Ralph McDaniel at home, Mrs. Virgie Evans of Des Moines, Mrs. Aural McDonald of Winterset, Mary McDaniel at home and Mrs. Rose Young of St. Charles. Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lucy McDaniel, 81 year old resident of Madison county, died early Saturday morning, Jan. 3, at her home near St. Charles following an extended period of ill health.
Lucy Jane Allen, daughter of Wm B. and Margaret Allcock Allen, was born July 12, 1861 in Scott township, in the old homestead southwest of the Elm Grove church. She was the last of a family of eight children.
On Sept. 8, 1878, she was married to Wesley F. McDaniel and they were the parents of nine children, two, Mrs. May Hall and Jessie who preceded her in death. Her husband died in May 2, 1911.
Funeral services were held at McDaniel home conducted by Rev. Elmer L. Patterson, who was assisted by Rev. L. M. Kirby. Burial was made in the Sayre cemetery near Elm Grove.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary, Mrs. Virginia Evans of St. Charles, Mrs. Aural McDonald of Winterset, and Mrs. Rose Young of Truro, and three sons, Charles, Ralph of St. Charles, Edmunds of North Dakota.
