WALTER BROWN OF PATTERSON DIES

Death Occurred New Year's Day for 86-Year-Old Resident

Walter W. Brown of Patterson died at his home there Jan. 1, New Year's day, after an extended period of failing health. He was 86 years of age.

Mr. Brown was born north of Winterset on July 15, 1871, a son of John and Martha Brown. He was married Aug. 21, 1893, to Agnes J. Russell of Patterson. They were parents of three children, one son dying in infancy. With the exception of three years in Wyoming and six years near Booneville, their entire married life of 64 years was spent in or near Patterson.

He had been an active member of the Patterson Methodist church since early life.

He leaves his wife, Agnes; the two daughters, Mrs. Frank Libby of St. Charles and Mrs. Arthur Speer of near Patterson; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Allie Fowler of Moline, Ill.; and two brothers, Olson and Bradley Brown, both of Long Beach, Calif.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Patterson Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Clifford Pine. Burial was made in Montpelier cemetery.
