MRS. MARTHA ADAMS OF WINTERSET DIES

Death Occurred Sunday for 86-Year-Old Winterset Woman

Mrs. Martha Adams of Winterset, died Sunday, Jan. 5, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset, at the age of 86 years. Mrs. Adams had been a resident of this community for 44 years.

Mrs. Adams was a native of Green county, Indiana, where she was born Sept. 30, 1871, a daughter of Thomas and Syllona Smith Lucas. She was married to John Q. Adams on Oct. 27, 1889, in Marion county, Iowa. His death occurred six years ago. She was preceded in death also by a son, Roy L. Adams, who died in 1920.

Surviving are two sons, Oren (Jack) Adams of Winterset and Virgil Adams of Piketon, O.; two daughters, Mrs. Glen Adams of Red Oak and Alma Adams of San Francisco; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, John Lucas of Des Moines; and four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Quinn of El Paso, Tex., Mrs. Alice Cool of Boone, Mrs. Rosa Vertz of Altoona, and Mrs. Charlotte Bales of New Virginia.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from Richards home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
