MRS. CORA ACKELSON DIES IN DES MOINES

Mrs. Cora Bell Ackelson whose early life was spent in the Winterset community, died Dec. 11 at a Des Moines hospital, according to information received this week. She was 85 years of age.

Mrs. Ackelson was the former Cora Bell Alley, daughter of Fred and Clarke Crawford Alley. She was born near Winterset on Oct. 4, 1873. She was married on Sept. 19, 1894, to George Ackelson. They moved to Des Moines 40 years ago. They were parents of 13 children, three daughters and a son preceding the mother in death.

Surviving are nine children: Verdie and Veren of South Bend, Indiana, George of Sabina, W. Virginia, Edna Wilkerson of Iowa City, Clarkie Cleghorn and John, Carl, Leo and Edgar all of Des Moines. She also leaves 43 grandchildren, and 53 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held December 14 from White's Funeral home in Des Moines. Burial was made in the Baptist cemetery north of Winterset.
