RAY E. HANDLEY DIED SATURDAY

Prominent Monroe Township Farmer Was 70 Years of Age

Ray E. Handley, a well known farmer in Monroe township for many years died at his home there Saturday, Sept. 23. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Handley was born near Macksburg on Feb. 3, 1891, a son of John F. and Anna Handley. The family lived near Macksburg for 10 years then spent ===years in Winterset. The last 59 years of his life was lived in Monroe township.

He was married Feb. 4, 1914, to Alice M. Phillips. They were parents of a son, Charles Handley, now of Ames, and a daughtger, Katherine, now Mrs. Jack Livingston of Lorimor. His wife died in 1958.

Mr. Handley was a leader of farming interests in Madison county, and in his local community. He had been active in the Madison county Angus Breeders' association for many years.

In addition to his wife and two children, he leaves seven grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of Winterset and Mrs. Goldie Thomas of Adair county.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Lorimor Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. H. W. Kinzler. Burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
