MATTHEW MICHAEL ASHER, Des Moines

Matthew M. Asher, 7, died April 11, 2007 as a result of an auto accident near Earlham. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the Earlham School auditorium with burial in the Earlham Cemetery.

Matthew was a first grade student at the Earlham School. He was involved in the Earlham City little league baseball and soccer programs. He admired Star Wars and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Matthew is survived by his father, Eric Asher of Des Moines; brother, Jacob Asher of Des Moines; grandparents, Thomas and Mary Kay Badker of Dover, MN, Roger (Sharon) Asher of Des Moines, and Lynn (Howell) Morsch of Earlham. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2007 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Asher Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo or Earlham Savings Bank location.

Matthew Michael Asher was born the son of Eric and Tracy Badker Asher on October 29, 1999 in Des Moines, Iowa. Matthew died in an auto accident near Earlham, IA on April 11, 2007 along with his mother Tracy and brother Lucas. Matthew was 7 years, 5 months and 13 days.

Matthew attended Little Lambs Day Care Center in Des Moines before coming to Young Explorers in Earlham. Matthew was a first grade student in the Earlham Community School. He loved school, especially recess time. He had just finished his first year of Little League T-Ball and was looking forward to this year’s season. He was also a member of the Earlham City Soccer League. He had also learned to swim. Matthew hated to wear shoes, and could be found walking around the house without pants. He loved fishing, camping, “Star Wars” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, and dinosaurs. He loved to go to the park and trips to Minnesota to see his cousins. He spent lots of time with the family dog, “Annie” and the parakeet “Diego”.

Matthew is survived by his father Eric Asher of Des Moines, brother Jacob Asher of Des Moines, grandparents, Thomas and Mary Kay Badker of Dover, MN; Roger (Sharon) Asher of Des Moines; Lynn (Howell) Morsch of Earlham, uncle Troy (Denise) Badker of Dover, MN, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Tracy Asher and brother Lucas Asher.
