JAMES ROGAN, 73 DIED WEDNESDAY

Brief Illness Ends in Death of Life-Time Resident of County

James Rogan, a well known resident of Douglas township for many years, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, after an illness of six weeks. He was 73 years of age.

Mr. Rogan was born in Douglas township, April 16, 1886, a son of James and Julia Welch Rogan. His life was spent on the same farm in Douglas township, where he was born.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church at Winterset.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth R. Perry and Alice Rogan, at home; and a brother, Waldron Rogan, also of Douglas township. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Rogan, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Perkins.

Funeral services were held Friday from St. Joseph's church, conducted by the pastor, the V. Rev. Msgr. John W. Higgins. Burial was made in the Stringtown cemetery.

James Rogan, son of James and Julia Welch Rogan was born April 16, 1886. He passed away February 24 at the Winterset Memorial hospital after a six weeks illness.

James spent his entire life on the same farm where he was born, northwest of Winterset in Douglas township. His interest in the care of the farm was very deep and he maintained his interest until his health interfered with active duty.

He had many friends and will be missed by those who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sisters, Elizabeth R. Perry, Alice Rogan, and a brother, Waldron. Also two nieces, Charlotte Flannery of Des Moines, Maxine Rogan Huff of Long Beach, California and a nephew, Paul E. Perkins of Green Bay, Wisconsin also survive. A brother Charles and a sister Jessie Perkins preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held last Friday morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic church of which he had been a lifelong member, conducted by Rev. Msgr. Higgens. Burial was in Stringtown cemetery.
