OBITUARY

Henry Ira Smith was born December 6, 1882. He was one of the eleven children born to James and Rachel Smith. He was born in Polk County, Missouri near Morrisville.

He passed away April 1, 1960 at the Redfield hospital at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 26 days.

On July 22, 1902 he was united in marriage to Della Wilson. To this union eight children were born, three sons and five daughters.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved to the Earlham community in 1922, about 38 years ago. Their children attended the schools in this community and the family has many friends in this area.

Throughout his life Henry had an interest in agriculture that was surpassed only by his concern for his family.

Even after his retirement about eight years ago, he helped and worked for a close friend, Frank Hill.

He leaves to mourn in passing his wife, Della--they would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this year. He also leaves his children: Charley Smith, Rockford, Ill.; Clifford Smith, Des Moines; Raymond Smith, Adel; Zona Hamilton, El Cajon, Calif.; Mrs. Edith Algreen, Dexter; Mrs. Fern Butler, Des Moines; Mrs. Ruby Greenwood, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Mabel Cronk, Sherland, Ill. and 28 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

His three sisters are Mrs. Laura Bruce, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Rachel Wilson, Morrisville, Missouri; Mrs. Meda Cox, Winfield, Kansas.

One grandson, Lloyd Algreen preceded him in death.
