Former Madison County Deputy Sheriff Was 67 Years of Age
E. Boyd Murphy, a well known resident of the Truro community for many years, died at his home there last Thursday at the age of 67 years.
Mr. Murphy had lived 60 years in Madison county. He engaged in farming for 20 years, later operated a garage at Truro, and served as Madison county deputy sheriff for several years.
He was a native of Wayne county, Nebraska, where he was born Sept. 11, 1892, a son of Samuel and Cecelia Murphy.
At Truro he had served on the town council, and as a school bus driver. He was also a member of the A. A. F. auxiliary military police at the A. A. F. depot in Des Moines.
He was married at Winterset on June 8, 1910, to Florence F. Farson.
Surviving are his wife; four children, Weldon Murphy of Racine, Wisc., Laurel Murphy of Kansas City, Mo., Howard Murphy of Des Moines, and Helen of Truro; eight grandchildren; a great grandson; and a sister, Mrs. Charles Cochran of El Cajon, Calif.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Truro Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Dale Lockart. Burial was made in the Hartman cemetery there.
