JOHN McCAULEY DIES AT CRESTON

Formerly of Madison County; Had Lived Many Years at Creston

John McCauley, formerly of Madison county, died Wednesday, March 9, at Creston. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. McCauley was a native of Ireland, where he was born Dec. 23, 1887, a son of Alexander and Rebecca Montgomery McCauley. He came to this country with his parents in 1888, and they settled in Iowa.

He had lived at Creston since he was a young man. He was employed as a cook.

A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles lodge.

Surviving are three brothers, Tom McCauley of Prole and Dick and Ted McCauley of Winterset; and four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Stanfield of Des Moines, Mrs. Mary Graham of Winterset, Mrs. Elizabeth Krebiehl of Chicago, and Mrs. Rebecca Francis of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Thursday from the Coen Funeral home in Creston. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
