MRS. LENA BIESEL DIES AT WINTERSET

Native of Germany Came to United States 54 Years Ago

Mrs. Lena Biesel, a native of Germany who had lived in Iowa for 53 years, died Saturday, Dec. 18, at a Winterset nursing home. She was 73 years of age.

Mrs. Biesel was born Jan. 6, 1881, in Neiderkerichen, Bavaria, a daughter of Peter and Karlene Willrich Leppla. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Germany.

In 1900 she came to America with an uncle, living in Chicago for one year, then moving to Dexter in this state.

She was married to Nicholas Biesel on March 7, 1903. They were parents of three children, who survive. They are: Fred and Mary Biesel of Winterset, and George Biesel of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held from St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Winterset Monday, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Theodore Guatslaff. Burial was made at DeSoto.

Note: Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Dallas Co, Ia
